A 53-year-old man from Mount Uniacke walked away with only minor injuries after the light aircraft he was flying over the weekend crashed into a lake near Windsor, Hants Co.
Windsor RCMP say at about 9 a.m. Sunday morning the pilot was trying to land the plane on Panuke Lake where he had some friends living nearby.
However, police say the plane became unresponsive when it tried to land and it crashed into the lake as the pilot attempted to make it turn in the air.
The cause of the accident hasn’t been determined.
Most of the damage to the plane was in the area of the nose. Police say the pilot received a laceration and some back pain and was taken by helicopter to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.
The pilot was the lone occupant of the plane, which was powered by a 580 CC rotax engine.
