Two pilots killed in a Richmond plane crash have now been identified.
Jeremy Sunderland and Matthew Pedersen were piloting the twin-engine Piper Navajo to Vancouver International Airport Thursday night when the small plane crashed into a parking lot. No one was injured on the ground.
Sunder-land, 28, had celebrated his birthday two days prior. Friends posted condolences on his Facebook page. One called him a wonderful son, while another called him a straight shooter.
The airplane, which was inbound from Victoria, was carrying blood for Canadian Blood Services and crashed about four kilometres from the airport.
According to media reports, investigators are examining whether a larger aircraft caused turbulence for the cargo plane.
