Pit bull victim offered new pup

Owners of a tiny dachshund mauled to death in a pit bull attack last week may welcome a new addition to their family in the New Year.

Upon reading Brent Brownlee’s story last week, Metro reader and dachshund breeder Dina Fourman offered him a puppy from an upcoming litter to reward his courage.

“My puppies look exactly like Charlie, the dog that was killed,” Fourman said. “I always care about my puppies’ future owners and I was so impressed by what Brent did. He could have lost his life.”

Brownlee was walking Charlie and Bella through his north-end neighbourhood last week, when he says he was attacked by a pit bull.

He couldn’t save the small brown dog.
