A small plane with the capacity to carry eight people crashed in Richmond at about 10:15 Thursday night.

The private plane, reportedly a Piper Navajo, was on its way to Vancouver from Victoria when it crashed in an industrial area near the Ikea store, close to the Knight Street Bridge.

By 11 p.m., three ambulances had left the scene, and initial reports said that at least two people had died. Police cordoned off an area of at least two blocks surrounding the crash site.
