An American Airlines plane reportedly struck a deer Wednesday as it was taking off from theCharlotte Douglas International Airport.
The plane had44 passengers and four crew membersaboard when the incident occurred, according to The Charlotte Observer. After doing a quick flyover to check for damage, the flightdeclared an emergency landing and returned to the airport.
No injuries were reported, but passengers did have to be evacuated from the plane, which was reportedly leaking jet fuel.
The airport is currently operational, but the runway is closed.
