Police at Fredericton hospital after threat

FREDERICTON – Police were temporarily stationed at the entrances to a Fredericton hospital Tuesday after someone phoned in a threat.

Const. Rick Mooney says a male phoned the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital at 10:30 a.m., but did not direct the threat at any specific person.

At one point, police were searching men on their way into the building, looking for a possible weapon.

Officers were at the hospital until 4 p.m. when it was determined there was no threat to the people inside.

Mooney says police have not determined if the threat was a hoax.

He says their investigation was continuing.
