A man was shot in the arm during a home invasion in Dartmouth on Sunday night.
The 27-year-old man was at home on Dundas Street when he heard a commotion at his front door at around 6:30 p.m.
“The man went to his front door and a couple of people were trying to force their way in,” said Const. Jeff Carr, a spokesman for the Halifax Regional Police.
The shooting appears to have happened in the doorway.
“They didn’t get in, I believe.”
The victim told police the suspects, described as black men wearing ski masks, stole his jewelry and took off.
Police believe it wasn’t a random act.
“It would appear they were looking for something,” Carr said, but added he didn’t know what specifically the suspects were looking for.
The victim was taken to the Halifax Infirmary with non-life threatening injuries. He was expected to be released from the hospital Monday afternoon.
Investigators and forensic officers examined the scene yesterday. As of mid-afternoon, there were no suspects in custody.
Carr said the incident isn’t related to the murder of Terry Marriott Jr. on Friday.
