Police charge driver involved in fatal February crash

Police say the 18-year-old faces numerous charges

A teenager has been charged in relation to a fatal traffic accident last February, Edmonton police reported today.

Police say the 18-year-old was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

Her name will not be released as she was a minor at the time of the incident.

At about 4 a.m. on Feb. 21, police say a black GMC Envoy was on Jasper Avenue when it failed to make a turn onto 82 Street.

The SUV left the road and hit a pole on the passenger side.

As a result, an 18-year-old passenger was killed and another 18-year-old passenger was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
