Edmonton police have charged a man and woman from Halifax, following an apparently phoney kidnapping.
A manhunt began after 22-year-old Chantel Lorenz was allegedly abducted from a downtown apartment building Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses told police that Lorenz’s boyfriend was assaulted, and that the assumed kidnapper dragged her to a waiting vehicle.
“Certainly, there was an assault that occurred,” EPS spokesman Jeff Wuite said, adding the investigation is ongoing. “As far as what people perceived as an abduction, we’re really not at liberty to discuss it.”
The pair turned themselves in to Calgary police Monday.
Thomas Bradstock, 47, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
