Police say they could know as early as today whether there is any connection between human remains found in Caledon and a missing Orangeville woman.

Police say they could know as early as today whether there is any connection between human remains found in Caledon and a missing Orangeville woman.

Sonia Varaschin, a 42-year-old nurse from Orangeville, has been missing since last weekend.

Police notified Varaschin’s family after remains were found Sunday morning in a wooded area off Beech Grove Side Road by a resident walking a dog.

A post-mortem in Toronto has been scheduled for today, and is expected to last all day. The OPP, which is investigating along with Orangeville police, will not say whether the remains are of a man or a woman.

Yesterday, a dozen police officers walked through the woods, scanning the ground for information at a blockade near Beech Grove Side Road and Mountainview Road.
