Toronto police have recovered a car allegedly driven by a man wanted in the murder of a 28-year-old west-end woman. The body of Lucita Charles was found in an apartment near Jane and Lawrence on Monday and reports say she had been stabbed.

On Monday night, police said the suspect in Toronto’s 18th homicide of the year may be driving to Montreal in a burnt orange Kia Rio. Early yesterday, police were called by a woman claiming to be a friend of the suspect, saying he ditched the vehicle at a north-end gas station.

Local media also says the woman told police she had taken the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Patrick Kirk Barrett, to the Oshawa area.

Barrett is described as black and six foot one with a medium build.
