Police find vehicle linked to deadly weekend shooting

Edmonton police revealed Monday that they had located what’s believed to be the vehicle that fled the scene of a fatal weekend shooting on Saddleback Road.

A search warrant was executed at a north side residence, not far from where the vehicle was located and seized early Monday morning. Several occupants within the residence were being interviewed by police, but no charges had been laid as of press time.

The incident happened on Saturday on the 300 block of Saddleback Road, where a 23-year-old victim identified as Edmonton resident Jesse Lee James was shot dead in the parking lot. Police were called by residents who heard gunfire at around 3 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the young man dead at the scene.

The shooting is not suspected to be a random act of violence and the victim is known to police.

Suspects were believed to have fled in a 1991-1993 white four-door BMW with tinted windows and minor passenger side damage.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting or the vehicle to contact EPS at 780-423-4567. Also, anonymous information can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.tipsubmit.com.
