Police hunting sex-attack suspect

Edmonton police are asking the public to help catch a suspect in a sexual assault case over the weekend.

In the early morning of Aug. 8, a 30-year-old woman was walking in north central downtown Edmonton, where she was offered a ride by a man.

The woman accepted the ride and was taken to an industrial area in south eastern Edmonton where she was assaulted and sexually assaulted. The woman escaped from her assailant to get help from a passing motorist.

“There’s a real inherent danger in getting into someone’s vehicle who you don’t know,” Staff Sgt. Brian Readman said.

The suspect is described as a white male, at least six-feet-tall with a medium build and reddish hair.

He was wearing a black ball cap and thick glasses, and said his name was Brian.

The vehicle was as an old model light-blue pickup truck with a white stripe down the side.

The interior is maroon and there is a tank located in the box of the truck.

Police ask that if the suspect is seen to contact authorities right away.
