Police ID victims of weekend shootings

Lower Mainland homicide investigators released the names of two men yesterday who were gunned down in separate targeted attacks this weekend.

Jonathan Alex Barber, 23, of Langley was shot while driving his Porsche Cayenne in the 7,000 block of Kingsway Friday night.

Police have found no links to organized crime, drugs or other homicides, but remain convinced that the shooting was not a random incident.

A friend of Barber’s, a 17-year-old girl, was also shot at and injured. She was in a separate vehicle and was following behind him at the time of the attack.

As well, Duane Harvey Meyer, 41, of Mission has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting Thursday night in Abbotsford. The attack was likely targeted, police said.

Meyer is believed to have links to organized crime, and did not live in the area.

A silver Mercedes SUV was spotted in the neighbourhood at the time of the shooting.

No one has been arrested in either of the shootings.
