Police are investigating an alleged abduction from the parkade at Halifax Stanfield International Airport yesterday afternoon.
Halifax RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin said around 1:30 p.m. a female went into the newly opened parking garage and was approached by a male as she was walking towards her car, which allegedly led to “the unlawful confinement of that female.”
“What we understand from Truro police service so far is she was forced to drive to Truro and some offences took place in Truro – I don’t know what they are,” Taplin said last night. “She made her way to Truro police services somehow. I’m not sure if he let her out or she escaped, but Truro police services would have to fill you in on that.”
When contacted last night, an officer with Truro police said they wouldn’t have someone to comment on the case until this morning.
“No further statements for tonight,” he told Metro.
Taplin said the woman showed up at Truro police headquarters around 4 p.m. but there was no sign of the suspect or the victim’s car. She was reportedly not injured.
“Right now we’re looking at surveillance tape from Stanfield International Airport,” Taplin said. “We’re going to look to see if anything was on the tape.”
