Police investigate attempted abduction with school bus

Ottawa police are investigating a suspicious incident in the west end after a school bus driver attempted to pick up four children yesterday morning.

Police said at 7:55 a.m., four children, ages 6 to 10, were standing at the corner of Lincoln Heights Road and Regina Street when an older yellow school bus with no logos or company markings stopped at their location.

The driver repeatedly asked the children to get onto the bus. All of the involved children walk to school and do not take a bus.

An adult who had observed the interaction confronted the driver, who immediately left the area, police said.

Police said the events are similar to an incident that occurred on May 15 in Orleans.

Police are seeking a white male in his 40s.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5944 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).
