Homicide officials are investigating after a man died yesterday in hospital after an apparent altercation in the city’s northeast the night before.
Acting Insp. Terry Larson said police were called to an assault in the 200 block of 52 Street NE just after midnight Saturday and found a man unconscious in a parking lot. He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died yesterday.
“I don’t know if they knew each other, but it wasn’t random. There was some kind of altercation between two small groups of people,” Larson said.
He said the police have identified a person of interest who was on the scene at the time, but the person isn’t in custody and no charges have been laid yet.
“We believe there are other people with more information and we are looking to talk to those people,” Larson said.
Police said more details will be released today after an autopsy is complete, but added there was no weapon recovered at the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
