Police issue public warning about south end prowler

Halifax Regional Police is warning the public about three prowling incidents that occurred on Wednesday night in the South End of Halifax.

Between 12:05 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. police received three reports of a prowler who was looking in windows or lurking outside a residence. In one of the incidents, a woman witnessed a man masturbating outside her window.

“Quite frankly, it’s just plain creepy,” said police spokeswoman Theresa Rath. “It’s very disconcerting to the people involved, and the police.”

Police can’t say for certain if the same man was involved in all the incidents, but two of the three female complainants described a similar, albeit generic, description of the suspect.

The man is described as about six-feet tall, with short dark hair, broad shoulders and an average build. He was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information on Wednesday’s incident is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5016 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
