The City of Ottawa’s Integrated Road Safety Program laid 470 charges for failing to stop for red lights and following too closely last month.
Through the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, officers issued 410 tickets for red light running and 60 tickets for tailgating.
The goal of the IRSP is to reduce traffic fatalities or serious injuries by 30 per cent by 2010.
