Police on hunt for pair of teenaged car thieves

Police officers were on the lookout for a couple of teenage car thieves Monday in Dartmouth.

Staff Sgt. Sean Auld of Halifax Regional Police said the two young suspects crashed a stolen car into a lamppost on Princess Margaret Boulevard shortly after 12 p.m., causing moderate damage to the vehicle.

“(They) stole a Dodge Neon, struck a light pole, exited the vehicle and entered a Jeep Cherokee,” he said.

They dumped the second stolen vehicle in a parking lot at 461 Windmill Rd. before running away. A police dog followed a track to a nearby home, Staff Sgt. Auld said.

Police hadn’t made any arrests by late Monday afternoon, but were looking for a 16-year-old white boy who was wearing a black New York Yankees ball cap and a large black jacket, as well as a “chubby” white male who is about 16 or 17 years old and was wearing a dark T-shirt at the time.
