A nine-year-old girl says she was walking her dog on Sunday night when a man tried to grab her.

The victim told police she was walking her dog in Halifax’s north end at around 8 p.m. when a man approached her from behind and put his arms around her.

He covered her mouth and tried to pick her up.

She bit him and was able to run away.

Halifax Regional Police said the girl was able to give them a very detailed description of the man. The suspect is white and in his 40s, skinny with blue eyes. He was wearing all black with his sleeves rolled up, revealing a skull tattoo on his forearm with a snake or spider on it and a teardrop under one of the eyes.

Police searched the area of Novalea Drive and Heatherwood Court but couldn’t find a suspect or any witnesses.
