Police probe man's death after late-night fight

The Calgary Police Service is investigating the death of a man who diedfollowing a fight that occurred between two groups in the northeast.

The Calgary Police Service is investigating the death of a man who died following a fight that occurred between two groups in the northeast.

At approximately 11 p.m., on Thursday, July 8, 2010, a group of three men were walking in the 900 block of 36 Street N.E. when they got into an argument with a separate group of approximately ten men in a parking lot.

A fight ensued and a 20-year-old man from the first group was stabbed and beaten with a baseball bat. He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries this morning, Friday, July 9, 2010.

Three men that were detained shortly after the incident have been interviewed and cleared of having any involvement in the case.

A post mortem is scheduled to take place later today or Saturday morning. Identification and cause of death will not be released until this has been completed.
