Police are investigating a complaint of a peeping tom looking into the window of a home in Eastern Passage during the early morning hours this past weekend.

Halifax RCMP say a woman was in the bedroom of her home sleeping on Jeep Crescent at 3:50 a.m. on Sunday when she awoke and saw a man looking in the window at her from outside.

According to police, the female immediately told her husband of what she saw and he proceeded to open the front door, subsequently scaring the suspect away.

Police spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin said the female who witnessed the man peeping in on her was “shocked and disturbed” about the incident.

Police say the suspect was wearing all black and fled on foot towards Melrose Crescent.

Taplin said there haven’t been any other reports of peeping toms in the Eastern Passage area, but the public should still be aware. “If they do see anybody suspicious in and around the neighborhood, they should report it to police,” he said.
