Police recover weapon likely used in shooting

Police recovered what they believe to be the weapon used in Tuesday’s shooting.

“We recovered a shotgun (yesterday) morning from a backyard on Jackson Road,” said Const. Jeff Carr with the Halifax Regional Police.

A 22-year-old victim, identified by people at the scene as Ryan Jessop, was shot in the chest on Tuesday afternoon. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses spotted two suspects leaving the scene but no arrests were made.

“The investigators feel they are making progress, but there are no arrests at this point,” Carr said yesterday.

It was the third shooting in five days: Terry Marriott Jr., 34, was shot and killed on Friday afternoon, and a 27-year-old man was shot in the arm during a home invasion on Sunday.

Carr said it’s very unlikely the shootings are connected.
