Police release sketch of man in relation to possible abduction attempt

Police say he asked the boy to accompany him in exchange for a pop and chips. 

Vancouver Police have released a sketch of a man investigators would like to speak with in relation to a possible abduction attempt.

Police say a 12-year-old boy was approached by a man outside the West End Community Centre around 4 p.m., July 3.

The man was searching through garbage cans in the area near where the boy was sitting. Police say he asked the boy to accompany him in exchange for a pop and chips.

Community centre staff intervened and the man left the area.

He's described as white, 40 to 50 years old, 5`6" - 5`8" tall, with a medium build,short salt and pepper hair, and a short beard. He was wearing a light jacket, white T-shirt, light blue jeans and was carrying a large green plastic bag along with a smaller white bag.
