Halifax Regional Police say a man was stabbed in the leg in a failed robbery attempt late Saturday night on the 5900 block of Spring Garden Road in Halifax.

At about 11:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery where three males in a rear parking lot approached a man in his mid-20s.

Police say one man asked the victim for a cigarette light when he was grabbed and beaten, then stabbed in the upper leg by one of the suspects.

The victim screamed for help, and police say the three suspects fled the scene empty-handed.

The victim was taken to hospital but his injuries were not life-threatening. The suspects are described only as being in their early 20s.
