Halifax Regional Police are looking for a suspect after a female was allegedly assaulted in the washroom of Park Lane Mall on Spring Garden Road.

Police say a man, armed with an unidentified metal object, assaulted the victim after she entered the women's washroom on the food court level at 8:15 p.m. Monday.

“She was approached by the man and he started to assault her,” said police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter. “She ended up yelling and screaming, which frightened him off.

The man fled the scene, fleeing a security guard who was unable to stop him. The victim was not hurt and police searched the area with negative results after the incident.

“There is mall video and we are working to obtain it from them,” Palmeter said of Park Lane management. “We’ll then go from there and follow up with that.”

Police describe the suspect as a black man, possibly in his early 20s, with short black hair and a slight goatee. They say the suspect is also about six feet tall and 160 pounds.
