A crime on the outskirts of Calgary had Crime Stoppers re-enacting the incident yesterday to try to garner up any new leads.
An unknown number of offenders allegedly shot at an Enmax transformer June 22 with a high-powered shotgun at a residence on 88 Street SE causing about $7,000 in damage.
“Any vandalism on our system is not only a concern for ourselves, it should be a concern for all customers,” said Murray McGonigle, from Enmax.
“Not only is the cost borne by them through rate based, but it can be a very dangerous situation as well.”
Police found several shells at the scene and determined that the guns used were a 303-calibre British Army rifle and a .22 calibre long gun.
Const. Graeme Smiley said that taking shots at a transformer is a huge public safety issue and actually constitutes a number of criminal code offences.
“The reality is the damage and the potential injury that could have occurred is great.”
