The common-law wife of Howard Hyde was reported missing late yesterday afternoon by Halifax Regional Police.

Police issued a release around 4:30 p.m. asking for the public’s help in locating 51-year-old Karen Kormanaski.

Kormanaski, who also uses the surnames Ellet or Usher, testified recently at the high-profile fatality inquiry of her common-law husband. Hyde died on Nov. 22, 2007, after a brief struggle with guards at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility.

Kormanaski was last seen on the evening of Oct. 29. So far, police say there are no indications she was a victim of foul play. Police spokeswoman Theresa Rath would not confirm her connection to Hyde. Kormanaski is described as five-foot-eight and 165 pounds with long, dark brown hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5016.
