Police searching for suspect in Dartmouth shooting

Halifax Regional Police have one male in custody and as of press time were still searching for a second male suspect following a shooting in Dartmouth yesterday afternoon.

According to Staff Sgt. James Butler of HRP, two adult males were turning left from Jersey Drive to Portland Street in a blue Ford Escort when a gold-coloured older model vehicle came up next to them shortly before 5 p.m. and fired what is believed to be one shot, putting a bullet hole in the front door.

After speaking with the victims, Butler said police went to an apartment on Novawood Drive in Dartmouth to possibly locate the suspects, and received reports of four men outside the building armed with firearms.

When police arrived, four men were taken into custody and arrested for drug offences. Butler couldn’t say if the cases were related.

Police then went into the building and arrested one of the suspects in the shooting from a residence. The second suspect wasn’t there, and police were still searching for him late last evening.
