Police seek patient missing from forensic hospital

Halifax Regional Police and the East Coast Forensic Hospital are hoping the public can help them track down 29-year-old Troy Scott Forrest.

Forrest is a patient of the Dartmouth facility who has been living in the Halifax area on a conditional discharge since last month, but a Capital District Mental Health Program spokeswoman said yesterday “he did not show up for an appointment on June 16, and then another appointment on June 18.”

In addition to being a condition of his release, Maureen Wheller said the appointments are “part of his treatment.” However, she couldn’t say what Forrest was being treated for due to patient confidentiality.

A Capital Health news release said Forrest “is of moderate risk that may increase without treatment.”

Wheller said that means “he could be a risk to (the) public, and as time goes on he could be a risk to himself as well,” but she added she doesn’t know the details of his condition.

HRP spokesman Const. Brain Palmeter said yesterday police have checked a residence Forrest was known to frequent, but they had no luck.

Forrest is described as five feet six and 200 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
