Police seek suspect in seemingly random assauly

Two
women are recovering from injuries after an assault near the
intersection of Howe and Robson Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m.

Vancouver Police say a 51-year-old woman suffered a broken shoulder and a 29-year-old woman
suffered bruises to her face after the two were attacked by the man
while waiting at the intersection.

Witnesses
reported seeing the man run up to the first woman and violently push
her to the ground before punching the other woman in the face. The man
took off running toward the 800 block of Seymour Street
where a witness lost sight of him.

The 51-year-old woman was taken
to hospital for treatment of a serious shoulder injury.

The suspect is
described as a Middle Eastern man in his mid 30s, 5’10”, 185 lbs, with
dark hair.

The motivation for the assault is not known and the investigation is continuing.

Police are canvassing the area for video surveillance and witnesses.
