Police seek suspect in vehicle arsons

Police are seeking a male seen running from a vehicle fire on Tweedsmuir Avenue and Byron Street Tuesday morning.

Ottawa police and firefighters continue to investigate a series of vandalism fires after about 10 separate incidents were reported between 2:15 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. around Holland and Churchill streets.

Police said the majority of damage occurred to seven vehicles on the lot of a local car dealership. Four other vehicles including a backhoe were also fire-damaged in the area, and garbage cans and boxes were set on fire, police said.

The value of the damage to the construction equipment was near $80,000. The damage to cars is valued between $50,000 and $60,000, firefighters said.
