The tone during the wrap up conference of the 2010 CACP conference at the Westin Hotel yesterday was of enthusiasm and satisfaction.

One of the strong take-home messages was that professionalism, collaboration and accountability were the key points to achieving the best practices for all police services across Canada.

The organization’s president, Toronto police Chief Bill Blair, stressed improvement in collaboration and sharing of information and intelligence between police agencies from all across Canada.

“We’re creating a forum (for) sharing best practices and learning from each other and bring some consistency to our training,” said Blair.

Other concerns at the top of the organization’s agenda were a desire to stress greater collaboration with academics, in order to generate research that could improve policy and shed light on emerging technologies, as well as the use of force by police.
