While the alleged passenger in the city bus stolen Sunday has been arrested, police are still looking for the driver.

On Monday, Calgarian Jeffrey Keizer, 20, was taken into custody and charged with theft over $5,000 after tips from the public led police to his whereabouts.

“There was a barrage of tips,” said acting Staff Sgt. Kristie Verheul.

“I would say I received at least 15 Crime Stoppers tips and then there was the call last night (Monday) that led us to the arrest.”

Keizer was arrested at a home in the 6200 block of Penworth Road SE, just blocks away from where the bus was abandoned.

Verheul said Keizer was co-operative in helping to identify the driver of the bus.

“We have identified a potential suspect for the driver, however it’s not confirmed at this time and we have not arrested him,” said Verheul.

The bus was stolen after a transit driver left it idling outside of a southeast restaurant.

Those with information are asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
