Police stumble across three people in stolen car

While patrolling for cars parked on the streets under a winter parking ban, police came across something unusual.

An RCMP officer was approaching a car parked on Flying Could Drive in Dartmouth when the driver turned on the lights. There were three people inside: A 17-year-old youth, an 18-year-old woman, and a 21-year-old man.

Police say the 21-year-old driver had a hard time explaining what they were doing there, then took off running from police.

The RCMP officer stayed with the other two occupants of the car who gave him a false name of the runner. It turns out the car was stolen.

The 17-year-old was charged with theft. He and the woman are also charged with obstruction for giving police a false name.

The 21-year-old hasn’t been arrested yet, but RCMP say his identity has been confirmed.
