Police to review cop car crash

Police will be conducting an internal review after a police car rollover on the south end of the city just after 4 a.m. Thursday.

The patrol car was headed down 50th street approaching Roper Road when the driver lost control, hit the median and the vehicle rolled. The officers were not injured.

Edmonton Police Service spokesperson Jeff Wuite said the review will be conducted in addition to the investigation underway in the EPS traffic division.

“An internal review will be conducted as well to see if the officers acted appropriately and if anything can be done to prevent this kind of incident in the future,” Wuite said.

Investigators believe speed or road conditions might have played a role in the incident. The officers were not responding to a call at the time of the collision.
