Police are warning of an aggressive door-to-door scam that sees low-grade carpets being peddled as high-quality, handmade luxury items, following numerous complaints.
The fraudsters use high-pressure tactics and demand that victims pay in cash, and they do not offer records of the transaction or of the items’ authenticity. There are also reports of elderly victims being pressured to make large business loans to the suspects, also in cash.
