Halifax Regional Police are advising the public, especially seniors, about a recurring scam that is taking place.

Police say the scam involves a person contacting the victim claiming to represent the bank where they do business. They are said to tell the victim the bank suspects an employee of tampering with, and possibly stealing customer accounts. They then request the victim to assist by withdrawing a specified amount of money from their account and bringing it to them at a pre-determined location.

Police say this happened to a local senior recently and they were taken for their money, marking the fifth time since 2007 an incident like this has occurred.
