U of O The reason tenured professor Denis Rancourt was fired might be the administration’s opposition to his political views about the Palestine-Israel conflict, he insisted.

In a written response to his dismissal on March 31, Rancourt insisted that “the grading issue” (he awarded A-plus marks to everyone in one of his science classes last December), will not be upheld as a sufficient reason for terminating his career at the University of Ottawa.

“The March 31 university decision to dismiss me was itself tainted with Israel-aligned political influence,” wrote Rancourt.

The executive committee of the board of governors of the University of Ottawa unanimously approved Rancourt’s dismissal at the end of March. Since the case could end in arbitration, the university would not comment further.
