Politicians’ quick fix? Just ban it

I don’t remember any great outrage following this death in our school, from either Mayor David Miller or Attorney General Michael Bryant. They were clearly at a loss how to provide ideas. They need something to ban, it seems, as the basis of their approach to dealing with crime. Without a ban-able object, none of their other ideas really resonate. With it, none of their other ideas matter. This might be a very cynical view of our politicians, but it seems to be accurate.

Unfortunately that sends a message to these thugs that stabbing someone to death is less of a crime than shooting someone, and it’s the stabbing victims who pay for the politicians’ “gun ban” campaign publicity. Is hundreds of millions of dollars spent on gun buybacks to reduce gun deaths while watching stabbing deaths increase really that good of a deal?
