According to reports, the Powerball is now $500 million.
Thejackpotin thePowerballlottery has ballooned to an estimated $500 millionahead of itsdrawingonWednesday, the operator of the multistate game said.
The currentjackpotforPowerball, played in 44 states, Washington, and two U.S. territories, is worth $275.4millionif a winner chooses an immediate cash payout instead of annual payments over 30 years, the Multi-State Lottery Association said.

The lastPowerballjackpotwinner was in November, when a ticket holder from Tennessee claimed a $144.1millionprize. However, that was far smaller than last year's biggestjackpots of $564.1millionin February and $310.5millionin September.
The largest-ever U.S. lotteryjackpotpayout was in March 2012, when $656millionwas won in a MegaMillionsdrawing.
NoPowerballticket holder had all six numbers in the previousdrawingon Saturday, although more than 2millionticket holders won smaller prizes totaling nearly $21million, according to the lottery website. Five players matched five of the six numbers.
