A Nova Scotia life sciences company says it will create up to 30 new jobs over the next five years while it expands its operations in Dartmouth.

Precision BioLogic Inc. is receiving a payroll rebate of about $445,000 from Nova Scotia Business Inc. to assist in its growth, a news release said yesterday.

The company is also participating in BioPort Atlantic 2009, a biotechnology and life sciences conference that kicked off last night with an opening reception and continues today at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. Global investment icon G. Steven Burrill of San Francisco will speak today at noon.

The eighth annual conference is hosted by the Nova Scotia Biotechnology and Life Sciences Industry Association.
