Re: Last month’s article on rider courtesy and pregnant woman.
Recently, I was standing, visibly pregnant, in a crowded car on the Yonge subway line and the only person to offer me a seat was another pregnant woman. Several people were within earshot and despite my declining her offer, still no one offered me a seat.
Over the past three months that I became very visibly pregnant, I was offered a seat only twice. Perhaps I could ask someone to give up their seat, but I don’t feel comfortable doing that, and quite frankly, I shouldn’t have to ask.
If every rider experienced for one day what it is like to be pregnant and have to travel on the TTC during rush hour, I would not be writing this. It is rather pathetic that riders, such as myself, have to write in to remind fellow riders to be decent people.
