The Titanic wreck site is still littered with artifacts and it should stay that way, according to local expert Steve Blasco.

He said he didn’t want to get involved with this expedition because they were originally looking to take artifacts. No artifacts will be taken from the three-by-five-kilometre debris field.

“I personally feel the Titanic is a grave site and there are still memories and people who had family on the Titanic,” Blasco said. “Preserving it and leaving it on the bottom certainly gives you some respect for those who lost their lives and their decedents.”

There are still thousands of artifacts that haven’t been recovered

“There was a wealthy group of people on board and a lot of stuff they were carrying,” he said.
