After six long years as President of the United States, Barack Obama has finally joined Twitter with his very own personal account.
Just this morning, POTUS made his first tweet and posted:
Hello, Twitter! It's Barack. Really! Six years in, they're finally giving me my own account.— President Obama (@POTUS) May 18, 2015
POTUS in action
As soon as the tweet was posted it went viral instantly with over 58,000 re-tweets. More than 62,000 people favorite Obama's first tweet.
His wife, Michelle Obama (FLOTUS) has been tweeting since 2013, so it's about time her hubby steps his game up and joins the Twitterverse. As of now, POTUS is following 65 people on his account including major Chicago sports teams such as the Blackhawks, White Sox, Bulls, and Bears. He also followed George W. Bush too. We guess he's interested in what he's been up to lately.
Although many people congratulated POTUS for getting his own Twitter account, others, of course, seemed to reply with sarcastic comments. You know the trolls are having a field day with this. Some people just felt the need to tweet at him to say hi.
Here are some of the replies to our president's first tweet.
