Eleven years ago the Chinese government outlawed the practice of Falun Gong.
Followers of the religion say they have been systematically persecuted since then with mass arrests, torture and even organ harvesting.
“Hundreds of thousands of practitioners are incarcerated in forced labour camps and jails,” said Ottawa practitioner Lucy Zhou.
“What’s happening is beyond belief.”
Zhou said they even feel as if the Chinese government is trying to suppress them here in Ottawa.
Falun Gong is not a political party, said Zhou, but a movement that, “teaches people to be good.”
