The provincial government announced yesterday it’s now offering up to $150,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the disappearance of a Colchester County man nine years ago.

Charles Robert Maddison was 55 years old when he went missing after leaving his Portapique home at about 7 a.m. Sept. 8, 2000, headed for appointments in Halifax. Maddison is believed to have been a victim of foul play and his is the 58th case to become part of the province’s Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

A Justice Department news release said a friend spoke to Maddison before 7 a.m. on the day he disappeared, adding several people reporting seeing his 1989 blue Dodge Dakota truck in the Portapique and Great Village areas, as well as on Highway 102 near Truro, later that morning.

His truck was found abandoned the following day in an East Hants clearing. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-888-710-9090.
