Province expected to ban pesticides

A pesticide ban in Nova Scotia will be unveiled today, sources say.

Environment Minister Sterling Belliveau has a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. during which he is expected to unveil the ban.

Details of the upcoming legislation aren’t known, and Belliveau wouldn’t talk about the press conference when reached yesterday.

“You’ll have to wait for tomorrow,” he said.

One person with knowledge of the ban said it would not take effect until next year.
