Province rolls out spring crop of tourism ads

Ah spring: birds are chirping, flowers are growing, and tourism ads are proliferating.

National Nova Scotia ads are airing now, trying to lure tourists to the province by showing them the scenery, culture and people here.

“This campaign portrays authentic Nova Scotians and experiences,” said John Somers with the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage.

“Nova Scotia’s scenic beauty, rich heritage and vibrant culture create memorable experiences for visitors and this campaign entices everyone to experience it for themselves.”

The national ads will run on the Discovery, HGTV, Bravo and Food Network specialty channels.

And this year, the tourism department is sinking its teeth deeper into sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. They’re also focusing particularly on the United Kingdom, Western Canada and a stronger regional campaign.

The regional campaign, consisting of television, newspaper and online ads, will start up April 27.
